While the nude baking anecdote is clearly the draw here (I actually knew a guy once who didn’t think it was such a bad idea…but — seriously — how do you not burn yourself?)…but I *also* thought the “burning the shortening”-thing was interesting — I’ve never heard of that and I *always* make my shortening bits pretty small…and my crusts are usually pretty darn flaky. (Except maybe in recent history. But I was able to blame the tin.)
It also does my heart good that this guy is a Pyrex fan.
