Thanks to a very generous classmate (happy birthday, Alex!), I went to a Prairie Home Companion this weekend. And you know how they do the fake ads? Well…it must have been kismet, because they did Bee-Bop-A-Ree-Bop Rhubarb Pie.
Says Wikipedia: Be-Bop-A-Re-Bop Rhubarb Pie and Be-Bop-A-Re-Bop Frozen Rhubarb Pie Filling. (“One little thing can revive a guy, and that is a piece of rhubarb pie / Serve it up, nice and hot / Maybe things aren’t as bad as you thought. Momma’s little baby loves rhubarb rhubarb, Be-Bop-A-Re-Bop Rhubarb Pie” — to the tune of “Shortnin‘ Bread“. This is usually sung following a sound-effect-enhanced tale of woe and immediately followed by “Wouldn’t this be a great time for a piece of rhubarb pie? Yes, nothing gets the taste of shame and humiliation out of your mouth quite like Bebopareebop Rhubarb Pie.”)
