One Ludicrously Expensive Pie Bird.

I get about a million catalogs now…and have to admit I like a lot of the stuff from MacKenzie-Childs, a purveyor of majolica dinnerware from Aurora, New York, even though I had never actually heard of it until I got an unsolicited catalog (although that big pink chair? A “Diva Chair”? Really?).

The pie-baking materials are equally whimsical. However…who on earth would pay $60 for a pie bird? It’s cute…but it’s not $60 cute.

You can get pie birds from Sur la Table for $3.95. That’s 15 for the same price. There are three varieties — you could get five of each!
